The Jaxonian!
Close friends have nicknamed me:
Jaxsonian– because I comment on simply everything. Someone who says something
about everything? Annoying much? “Here he goes again...” But I'm not the
know-it-all guy, or the right-fighter. Why? I'm happiest when I'm wrong. To be
wrong and to know it is to learn and grow. My ability to listen and
course-correct has nested a vast array of meaningful information. And from time
to time, I'm asked how I know so many little facts about so many divergent
subjects. These are not facts. These are stories. I collect stories. I do not
judge. I listen.
Note: I do not watch “reality TV”
or entertain salacious stories. Life is hard enough. The act of “leveling” or
gratifying one's self through the Schadenfreude of others is a delicacy I do
not stomach. The density of my mirror neurons will not allow such cheap
gratuity. The harmony of interest and connection is reward enough.
But what I do enjoy is a daily
regiment of 2-5 hours listening to the greatest sources of random stories
worldwide: BBC & NPR. I am a teller of story. My mediums include: short
stories, novels, computer art, visual art, sculpture, photography, philosophy,
computer games, and one day (cross your fingers) I want to mix literature and
film through the small screen of technology (I've already designed two stories
especially for this purpose: think Conan and Tron). I love movies, stories. The
first movie I directed and produced was Revenge of the Underwear Man. I
was 1984 and I was 12. It was a simple tale of a hostage taker who was so
intimidated by his hostage that he not only returned the hostage, but willing
went to jail in order to escape the clutches of his hostage (a little girl
named Baby Georgiafina– named after our family's cute little pug George Fu
Young III).
This blog is simple. Instead of
commenting on everything, I will impart the stories of my philosophical art and
world view I find salient. My intention is to nourish love and question power.
Through this medium I will share my insight on everything from the greatest
questions like what is the meaning and purpose of life to the simple fact of
what makes one egg bigger than another (older chicken, larger egg).
My work is a mixture of emotion and
reason, intuition and rigor. At times, I will be wrong, but most often it will
be by degree. I am a “ballpark” kind of guy. Life is fuzzy; it's gray. That's
my target. Please take this blog with a healthy grain of salt but an
overflowing bucket of interest.
Jaxon Cohen
